The formula
- Credits are the second digit of the course code: ICT 1407 is a 4-credit course.
- Non-GPA: foundation courses (FDN) and IDC 1202 Career Development carry zero credits and are not counted.
- Truncated, not rounded, to two decimals, as the handbook does.
Class bands
- First Class≥ 3.70
- Second Class (Upper)≥ 3.30
- Second Class (Lower)≥ 3.00
- Pass≥ 2.00
Your final GPA uses your best 90 credits (BSc) or 120 credits (BSc Honours), including all compulsory courses. Classes also need minimum grades and credits within set years. Read the handbook for the full rules.

FAQ
Questions about GPA at RUSL
Quick answers on how the Faculty of Applied Sciences calculates GPA, and how this tool works.
How is GPA calculated at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Rajarata University?
GPA is the sum of (grade point × credits) divided by the sum of credits, truncated (not rounded) to two decimals. Grade points are A+ and A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C- 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0 and E 0.0, as in the Faculty of Applied Sciences Student Handbook 2022/23.
What GPA do I need to reach the next class?
Pick your department, enter your grades, and open the next-class planner below your semesters. Choose BSc (3 years) or BSc Honours (4 years). It shows the average your remaining courses need for First Class (3.70), Second Upper (3.30), Second Lower (3.00) and Pass (2.00), suggests a grade for each remaining course, and lets you change any of them to see your projected final GPA. It uses the GPA cut-offs only; classes also need minimum grades in the handbook.
How many credits is a course worth?
The second digit of the course code is its credit value. ICT 1407 is a 4-credit course and ICT 1201 is a 2-credit course. Foundation (FDN) courses and IDC 1202 Career Development carry zero credits and are not counted in the GPA.
What GPA do I need for First Class or Second Class?
The minimum GPA is 3.70 for First Class, 3.30 for Second Class (Upper), 3.00 for Second Class (Lower) and 2.00 for a Pass. Classes also need minimum grades and credits within set years, so check the student handbook for the full rules.
Which departments and degrees does the calculator cover?
All five departments of the Faculty of Applied Sciences: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Computing (Information Technology), Health Promotion and Physical Sciences. Courses load with their credits, and you can add your own or move a course to the other semester.
Is my data sent anywhere? Do I need to sign in?
No sign-in is needed. Your grades are saved only in your own browser and never sent to a server.
What if I clear my browser data or change my phone?
Download the PDF report before that. It carries a copy of your grades, so choosing Restore from PDF on gpa.arict.lk brings every grade back on any device. Only the file downloaded from the site works; a printed or re-saved copy has no data.
Is this an official calculator?
No. It is an unofficial tool made by ARICT, the student association for Information and Communication Technology at Rajarata University. Your official results are on the EIS.
